I was born and rasied in West Valley City and attended Granger high School where I graduated in 1983 as Salutatorian (2nd place).
I earned the Louis Armstrong award on Trumpet, which is the highest musical honor at the high school level. I earned a Music Scholarship to the University of Utah. I was accepted at Berkeley, no scholarship, couldn’t afford tuition.
I played bass in various garage bands through High School and College and attended the University of Utah straight out of High School. Still a die hard Ute fan!
I attended the U of U for one year then Went on an LDS mission. I returned to the U of U and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
This qualified me to teach music in an already saturated music education market, so I never became a "real" music teacher.
I completed a Computer Science degree at UVSC in 2003. I started a new band with old High School buddies in 2002.

I learned everything I know on guitar from Chad Shockley, the guitarist in my band.
I play: Bass, Guitar, Trumpet (a bit rusty these days), enough piano/keyboards to get by on a few Rush tunes, enough drums to keep a beat.
