Kristy Roper has been playing guitar for 8 years, and piano for 15 years.
She began taking guitar lessons from the Modern School of Music from Dave Wilbur at the age of 12, and continued with him for 3 years. She also briefly took bass guitar lessons from Dave for 2 years.
Dave discovered her talent for classical piano and decided to test her out in the jazz piano world. Jazz piano soon became a passion of hers.
She participated in the Modern School of Music "Rookie Rock" group classes on guitar and keyboard, and performed with her "band" in many different venues including "Provo First Night" New Year's Eve celebration.
Kristy has played in several jazz bands since Jr. High School. She was the Dixon Middle School jazz pianist for a year, & Provo High School Jazz Pianist for 4 years, and played in BYU's Jazz Ensemble in the Fall of 2007.
Presently, she is a member of the Utah Valley University Jazz Ensemble playing piano, and is studying to be a Music Therapist.
Kristy has been teaching at the Modern School of Music for a year and a half, and she currently helps coach the "Rookie Rock" group classes.
